Glencore Operation South Africa (Pty) Ltd, Sibanye Stillwater Ltd and the management of various chrome recovery plants owned by GOSA and Sibanye Stillwater Ltd

The Competition Tribunal has unconditionally approved the proposed merger in which Glencore Operations South Africa (Pty) Ltd ("GOSA") and Sibanye-Stillwater Ltd (“Sibanye”), through its subsidiaries, intend to consolidate the management of various chrome recovery plants which they currently own, manage and operate separately. The ownership of the plants will not change following the transaction.
GOSA is acting on behalf of the Glencore-Merafe Pooling and Sharing Venture, an unincorporated pooling and sharing venture. GOSA is controlled by Glencore Holdings South Africa (Pty) Ltd which is, in turn, controlled by Glencore plc, which is incorporated in Jersey and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. The Glencore Group is a diversified producer of natural resources and commodities. In South Africa, it is involved in, among others, the production of and trading in coal and the production of chrome ore from chrome mining activities and from chrome recovery plants.
Sibanye is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. It is a multinational mining and metals processing group with a diverse portfolio of operations, projects and investments. Primarily, Sibanye is a producer of platinum group metals and gold. It owns and operates several chrome recovery plants.
